Dad of three boys (one of which has a very waggy tail), Personal trainer, glorified water boy for 2 Horses and the person who's going to help you feel stronger and more capable than you have in years.
How JSWFitness Started
I've always believed that the best thing you can do for someone is help them feel capable. Genuinely, physically capable of more than they thought possible.
I started working in a gym at 18 and spent years learning what actually works for real people with real lives. In 2014 I set up JSW Fitness to do things on my own terms, building a business where every client gets a genuinely personalised experience and results that actually last.
Twelve years later, that's still exactly what I do.
People often ask me what I love most about my job. The answer is always the same — the moments that happen when someone achieves something they genuinely didn't think was possible.
The first pull up. The weight they never imagined they could lift. The morning they wake up and realise their back doesn't ache anymore. The client in their late 70s who tells me they feel stronger now than they did in their 30s.
These aren't small things. For the people I work with, they're life changing. And getting to be part of that, every single day, is a privilege I never take for granted.
I work predominantly with adults over 40 because this is where I've seen the biggest transformations. Not just physically, but in confidence, in energy and in outlook. When someone who thought their best years were behind them realises they're not, that's why I do this.
I keep up with the latest research in strength training and nutrition so that every client gets the most current, evidence based approach possible. Because getting results isn't just about working hard. It's about working smart.
Outside of the gym I'm a dad to two boys, aged five and just over one, which means my life is loud, busy and absolutely brilliant. We have two horses called Joey and Merlin, though my role there is best described as glorified water boy, and a cocker spaniel called Crunchie who has no idea how much chaos he causes but his love of life is so infectious.
Fitness isn't just my job. It's genuinely how I live. I believe that staying strong and active is one of the best things any of us can do, not just for our bodies but for our mental health, our energy and our quality of life. It's what I tell my clients and it's what I practice myself.

"I've been working with James for over 10 years. He pushes me beyond what I would normally do on my own, helping me rehab from a shoulder replacement and feeling stronger than I did in my 30s even though I am now in my late 70s." — Steve, Tadley
"Finding a great personal trainer in the Tadley area has probably been the single best decision I've made in the last year." — Karen, Tadley
